Nightmare Gulch is a highly scenic & challenging canyon in Red Rock Canyon State Park. This area attracts many nesting raptor birds during the spring when it is closed to vehicles. The MOU with BLM provides for the road to be open to hiking the first through the 15th, then open to vehicular traffic the last half of each month, except for February 1 - June 30, when it is closed to all entry for the raptor nesting period. We respect this agreement to ensure that the trail remains open to vehicles on its current basis. Short wheelbase vehicles with high-clearance are recommended, full size vehicles not recommended and can expect serious body damage due to very tight or even impassible sections if attempted. This is a state park, so please observe a responsible Tread Lightly Attitude & remember to pack out what you pack in!

Last Chance Canyon is one of our favorite local runs. Located North of Lancaster just off Hwy 14. Although there are some spots that will challenge a well prepared rig, there are bypasses as well. It's a beautiful canyon and if you have a real thirst for knowledge and history it opens the door to a whole area full of exploring. Nearby you will find such areas as Barnett Opal Mine, Steam Well, Burro Schmidt's Tunnel, Red Rock, and Jawbone Canyon. Jawbone Station is the staging area for Moose Anderson Days every April. You can contact the BLM office in Ridgecrest at 760-375-7125 or email us for more info.
